124 golfers competed in the Yamba Golf & Country Club Christmas Ambrose on Sunday. Conditions over the whole weekend were extremely difficult due to the rain earlier in the week and a very strong wind.
All members were treated to a meal and some drinks with the golfers competing for special Christmas vouchers.
Winners were Stephen Lamb and Patrick Dougherty with a very good score of 64.5 nett; runners up were Peter Brennan and Andrew Kelly (65.5); followed by Luke Hitchings & Ronnie Blakey (66.25)
Di Sigle & Phillip Wood (66.25) with Anne-Marie and Anthony Hames in fifth place, also with 66.25.
20 golfers were selected by random number generator to have a shot at the 18th green from the 125-metre marker. Closest, and winner of the special voucher, was Andrew Bolte.
Saturday Stableford to Perry Robinson
The Stableford event held on Saturday was marked by very low scoring. The pin positions were very difficult and damp fairways together with the strong wind saw most golfers having a tormenting time reaching the green.
Perry Robinson had the best score of the day when he won C Grade with 39 points; second place went to Neil Garrard (Foster Tuncurry) (33) and Bryan Groth (31).
In A Grade Reilly Wunderlich held off Dan Neill when both scored 37 points. Paul Austin took third place with 36.
Tom Littlechild did well in B Grade when he scored 38 points to win from Dave McQueen (37) and Luke Woldseth (36).
NTP winners: 3rd SeaFire – Tom Littlechild (173cm); Peter Campbell 9th – David Carothers (138cm); SeaFire 10th – Laurie Urquhart (10cm); SeaFire 12th – Luke Woldseth (90cm); Bean Scene 17th – David Carothers 320.
Pro Pin second shot winners were 0-14 7th – Dylan Spagnolo (348cm); 14-54 4th – Luke Woldseth (500cm). To win a ball, a miserly 32 points was needed with 16 on the back nine.
