I have been lobbying my colleagues in Parliament to support my call for a Royal Commission into petrol prices and the power of large supermarkets.

I’ve also heard enough stories from our farmers and processors about allegations of misuse of market power, unconscionable conduct and the use of unfair contract terms

I would like to congratulate the Grafton Girl Guides who are celebrating their 95th anniversary this weekend.

The theme of the anniversary is ‘Leadership: Past, Present and Future’.

I would like to thank the High Tea’s organisers Judy Knox, Bernice Pitt and Vicki March.

The Guides are a great organisation.

We are providing $54.5 million for research into Type 1 Diabetes.

This life-long auto-immune disease is one of the most common chronic diseases in children and most newly diagnosed cases are in people less than 15 years old.

At present, there is no cure for Type 1 Diabetes and no proven approach to prevent the disease occurring.

We are also expanding free access to glucose monitoring devices for pregnant women, children and more adults with Type 1 Diabetes from next month.

This will save people up to $7000 a year.
