Yamba’s Keanu Staader has made it two in a row, after taking out this year’s Yamba Triathlon, on Sunday.

Keanu said that Sunday’s Triathlon was a really good event with a great crowd, and he wished to thank all the volunteers, who helped out on the day.

“This is my second year in a row, winning the event,” said Keanu.

“It’s a home race, a local race, and I always enjoy it at Yamba, it’s a great course.

This will be my fourth year doing triathlon. I’ve always loved it and done quite well at it.

I was always a cross-country runner and done a few sports before and did quite well, but then I found my love and my passion (in triathlons), and I enjoyed it.

I’ve got a few races coming up trying to qualify for worlds for Olympic distance, which is down in Wollongong next year.

The first race will be in Robina in QLD, then there will be Mooloolaba, Kingscliff, and then Wollongong. So, it’s a big race calendar, but I’m excited,” he said.

Belinda Murray took out the female category in this year’s Yamba Triathlon.

Belinda said that she lives at Caloundra at the moment and is a member of the Caloundra Tri Club.

“This is my first time at Yamba, and I just came along with a friend,” said Belinda.

“He said it’s his favourite race, so I thought I’d come along this weekend instead. I usually go to Harvey Bay, but it’s a really, really nice event and there’s a great atmosphere.

It’s a good little community event and everyone here’s really friendly, so I really enjoyed it today,” she said.
