Maclean resident and talented florist Judith Little has won the Royal Horticultural Society 1st prize at Sydney’s Royal Easter Show. Mrs Little said that she and Floral Art Society of Queensland member and Judge Angela Lewis teamed up together to work on the floral art project. “Teams from all around Australia (consisting of both professional and amateur florists) came together to create their floral art works inspired by the competition theme ‘Art in Bloom’, said Mrs Little. The competition was judged by German master florist and internationally renowned designer Gregor Lersch. Mrs Little said that she spent a week at Sydney’s Royal Easter Show attending workshops run by the world famous floral art guru as well as judging two events herself. “I had the floral art week of my life,” she said. “I learnt so much and haven taken in so much, it has been a real honour. “I’ve met Mr Lersch, (who is a fifth generation horticulturist) once before and had one on one time with him. “This year I was chosen to be his steward and assist him while he judged all the decorative exhibits in the horticulture pavilion as well as work with him on stage doing prep work for his presentations.” ‘It was a wonderful experience,” said Mrs Little.
