John Byrnes in for a pound
Author of ‘In for Pound’, John Byrnes, will visit Grafton and Maclean libraries next week.
In for a Pound is Mr Byrnes’s first published book. It explores the darker side of life and features flawed unconventional characters.
The central character is a young woman struggling against adversity and the elements while looking for connection and meaning in her life. Her journey is one of loss and gain as she struggles to triumph while being relentlessly pursued by vicious criminals across a range of exotic locations.
Mr Byrnes lives on the mid north coast of NSW and has lived a varied career of soldier, surveillance officer, a financier and a lender of other people’s money, but he always wanted to be an author. He has an interest in the modern history of South East Asia, particular the Vietnam War and the fallout that ensued at the end of that conflict.
Regional Librarian, Kathryn Breward, said crime fiction was always popular and this crime adventure story covered South East Asia and Australia and topical issues such as gender, diversity and refugee issues.
