Jennifer Fagan picks up A Grade Medal
Forty four lady professional golfers have registered to play at Yamba on Friday, March 4. Spaces are still available for amateurs should you wish to play. The shoot-out will be contested by ladies only and will take place on the 10th tee once all golfers have finished their rounds. If you are not playing, come along anyway and watch some exciting golf.
Later this year there will be a Ladies Holden Scramble qualifier at Yamba. Teams will consist of four players and all handicapped golfers are eligible. Our professional, John, expects to have entry forms available sometime this week, so call in and see him to enter this new event.
Last Wednesday was the 1st round of the GNSW Medal rounds and also the qualifying round for the Handicap Match-play Championship. Of the small field of 41, the medal for A Grade was won by in-form Jennifer Fagan net 70 and B Grade winner was Gwen Hall 74. Gross winners were Tina Earp in A Grade 87 and Kay Caller in B 104. Net runners-up were A Grader Di Sigle 74 and B Grade Denise Ginn 75. Putting went to Janine Zietsch 29 in A and Deirdre Gough 31 for B Grade. Balls ran to 78c/b and NTP were won by Sandra Wallace – Yamba Medical Centre 3, Judy Palich – Yamba Florist 3/2, Gwen Hall – Yamba Pro Shop 9, Lyn Rowland – Yamba Fair Butchery 10, Di Sigle – The Shoe Boutique 12, Jennifer Fagan – Clovelly Fashions 17 and Sandra Russo – The Block 17/2.
16 players qualified for the Handicap Match-play with the first round to be played on Wednesday March 2 at 7.59am.
Draw of the cards winners were Verna Wright – Civic Video, Wendy O’Brien – Priceline Pharmacy, Di Sigle – The Friendly Grocer, Denise Ginn – Yamba Florist and Chris Harris – Sole Connection. A raffle was conducted on behalf of WG Northern Rivers and $78 was raised which will be used to further Junior Girls’ golf.
The nine holes event attracted 5 ladies and the winner was Colleen Bamback with 11 points. Colleen also won the pin on 3.
The American Foursomes on Friday attracted 44 contestants. Winners were Suzanne Scott and Margaret Solomon with 73 1/8 followed very closely by Daphne Hinshaw and Robyn Causley with 73 ½. Sue and Margaret also won the putting 30. Pins were won by Trish McDermid on 3 – Tom’s Chinese Restaurant and Gwen Hall 12 – Yamba’s Fisho. Pro balls went to 78 ¼.
A very windy Saturday saw Jeannie Doolan as winner with 30 points on a c/b from Kathy Parker.
