It was up, up and way for Nicholas!

Grafton Aero Club’s Wings and Wheels was held on Sunday and eight year old Nicholas Hodges was lucky enough to win this year’s raffle prize of a glider flight which he took on the day. Nicholas said he “was both excited and a little nervous” however upon landing Nicholas said it was “awesome” and that “his friends and some family would be very jealous”.

Wings and Wheels Day

The Grafton Aero Club made a significant date change and brought this year’s Wings and Wheels event forward to avoid the strong winds the event has had to contend with over previous years, when the event was held in August/September.

Last Sunday was a beautiful sunny winter’s day and good crowd numbers were in attendance. Car and bike numbers seemed up or on par with previous years, however there did appear to be a lot more planes both on the ground and in the air.

The event was free for exhibitors and the public, but a gold coin donation went to this year’s charity the Oncology Ward at Grafton Base Hospital.
