Impulse fleet untouchable at Big River Sailing Club

The Impulse Class is likely to be renamed the ‘untouchables’ after another dominant display last Saturday.

In what was a strong turnout of 25 boats, the six boat Impulse contingent left all before them, relishing the ideal conditions and leaving the other monohull classes to lament the challenge ahead. The performance of Impulse newcomer Aaron Hancock was noteworthy amidst other strong performances by Scooter Hinton, Brian Wright, Gus Young, and visiting sailor Bruce McArthur. With a history of accomplishments in other dinghy classes, Aaron produced exceptional boat speed to win both races by a healthy margin.

In the multihull division, Nacra 4.5 sailor Ric Chalmers was able to hold his Weta rivals at bay to record two wins from as many races. Similarly, in the juniors, Hendrix Mahoney scored two from two, but not before overcoming decent challenges from fellow Laser 4.7 sailors Patrick Moore and AJ Black.

Next Saturday, the Club hosts another round of the Handicap Series with the first race starting at 1.30pm.
