The IWBC 2016 Triples Championship was finalised on Thursday May 5, when Michelle Swan, Erika Karstens and Ros Duncan were victorious over the team of Anne Rawson, Pam Kennedy and Gerrie Rawlings. Anne’s team put up determined opposition, however the experience and skill of Michelle’s team ensured they eventually had a convincing win.
There were many closely fought games during the competition and many games that came down to one or two shots. Congratulations to all those players who took part and who provided much entertainment and excitement to the spectators. Weather wise we were very fortunate, as it was only the very first day that had threatening weather and very windy conditions but in the end all games went ahead as planned in generally excellent conditions. To acknowledge our winners and also to congratulate all our Pennant players from the 2016 season, a small group of ladies performed a musical tribute to particularly highlight the success of our Grade 3 Pennant team. The audience were entertained to the strains of Cliff Richard’s “Congratulations” and Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary “ songs. To finish our party, the audience all joined in doing the Nutbush Dance again to the strains of Tina Turner. By all reports everyone enjoyed the morning of bowls and celebration. Our next Championship is the club fours which will commence on Tuesday May 17. May is a busy month as the ladies are holding a morning tea for Australia’s Biggest Cuppa for Cancer on Thursday May 12 and at the end of the month the District Triples will be held in Iluka.
