Iluka ladies’ bowls Major Minor Pairs 2021

The inaugural Major Minor Pairs Championship began on Tuesday November 16 at Iluka and sixteen players nominated to be part of this new competition for our Iluka club. To qualify, you to be designated as a major player, ladies had to have won a Major Singles Competition or a Pairs Championship.

The selectors then chose eight teams by box draw, choosing a major player and then a minor player until all names had been selected from the box. The first round with four games was played in fine weather. The semi-finals and final were also played in fine sunny weather with the only concerning factor being a slightly damp green.

Hearty congratulations must go to our winning pair Kaylene Toovey (the major player) and Lyn Briggs (the minor). They had three convincing wins through the competition, and they played very consistent accurate bowls. Hearty congratulations were bestowed on them from all spectators of their games. The overriding opinion of participants was that it was a really enjoyable worthy competition and should be included in our annual programme.
