Happy Gilmore winning team ‘The Ring Ins’ certainly played great golf to card a nett 22 and become big winners and shoot up the premiership table and in contention for the major prize of dinner for four @ Jack’s Restaurant. Iluka Happy Gilmore’s mixing it up

Twilight time last Thursday saw nine teams play the shortened 9 hole course, playing in the Happy Gilmore Fun Golf Ambrose event. Great to see so many new faces bobbing up every week and we have not even released our brochure yet. So we hope we can grow this event to 18 teams all playing off a shotgun start around 5.30pm followed by Mark Adey’s presentation and drinks. A big welcome to all newcomers and even if you do not have a team, come along and we will slot you in with a good team.

Spare a thought  for the ‘Allstars’ after some deep inner soul searching all last week, the boys carded an 8 under score, yes that is eight birdies and a par! Seen to be strutting their stuff back at the 19th, full of confidence that this could be their breakthrough moment of glory, only to be pipped at the post by the ‘Ring Ins’ with their good score of net 22, followed by ‘The Retirees’ on 22.275 and third placed ‘Allstars’ on 22.5. The ‘Allstars’ immediately fired off a protest on the handicap system, only to have Club Pro and sole arbitrator, Mark Adey, take away our party pies and were told to behave and be good boys. Can you believe that?

Other good scores on the day were ‘The Bowlo’ with 24.5, ‘The Wrecking Balls’ with 25.25, and new chums ‘Jonny Rockets’ with a 27.25 (could be the team to watch with a dandy name like ‘Jonny Rockets’).

Previous winners ‘The Wall Ratz’ and ‘Quality Accommodation’ found the benign conditions particularly harsh and stayed very quiet about their scorecards; nice to see all the boys so humble and indeed keep Trevor Blackburn quiet for all of five minutes. Then Trevor started on the ‘Winx Winners’ who carded a well recorded 27.875, and suggested that even with divine intervention it might not be enough to be able to ever venture up the leader board.

Happy Gilmore Fun Golf has created a new dimension, taking the seriousness out of play and making golf a relaxing fun time event. Come along even if you do not have a team, as we will slot you in with a bunch of Happy Gilmores to have some fun. The 5.30pm shotgun start allows the retailers in town to get along for the ride.
