Holiday fun on ice

Lynne Mowbray|

Bowlo Sports and Leisure Yamba have kicked off its school holiday fun with the opening of a temporary ice skating ring.

Bowlo Sports and Leisure Yamba, marketing manager Blake Wolfe said that prior to the grand opening day on Saturday, the Club held a thank you BBQ on Friday evening to our fire fighters and emergency services, for their great effort in protecting the lower river from the recent bushfires.

“We had over 150 attend on Friday night and we had a free (ice skating) session, so they were the first to officially hit the ice,” Blake said.

“Saturday was our grand opening to the public and we had around 300 on the ice that day.

“We had radio station 104.7FM broadcasting live, free scones, a free sausage sizzle at lunch, entertainment and face painting for the kids – so we had lots of stuff going on.

“The ice skating will run throughout most of the school holidays up until October 9.

“There will be five sessions a day and it’s advisable to get in early and book online on our website, or at the Club,” he said.
