Heavy defeat for Magpies

Ladies Leaguetag

Last Sunday, Lower Clarence Magpie sides played Bilambil Jets.

In the girls Leaguetag game, Bilambil lead 10 – 0 at the quarter time drink break, but a try to Taleyah Hippi-Laurie saw the half time score 10 – 4 to Bilambil.

Bilambil were able to stretch their lead to 18 – 4 and by the fulltime siren they had managed a convincing 22 – 4 win over the Magpies.

Great tagging by captain Raeyah Kapeen once again.

Reserve Grade

Due to injuries the Lower Clarence Magpies had to forfeit this game.

A Grade

After the drive to Bilambil the Magpies heads were never in the game and after a lacklustre warm up it all was downhill from there.

Despite a hard-fought start everything seemed to go Bilambil’s way.

The Bilambil penalty count was 20-1 against Lower Clarence and injuries to Cody (knee/ankle) and Shaun (shoulder) didn’t help.

The halftime score saw Bilambil Jets with a commanding 32 – 0 lead.

After the break Leroy Laurie came off injured, as did Chris Mitchell.

Best for the Magpies were Joe Walker Jnr with his bullocking runs and defence, and brother Cody Walker. Shaun Laurie also displayed some hard-hitting defence.

Captain Kyran Heron took the ball forward and offloading when he could and Jacob Essex with his never say die attitude saved a certain try.

The main thing is the team never just rolled over but tried all game.

The full-time score saw Bilambil win convincingly 60 – 0 victory.

Special mention of Elijah Kapeen who made he’s First Grade debut.
