Lynne Mowbray | Mareeba aged care resident Hazel Ridgeway, celebrated her 105th birthday surrounded by her family and friends, on Monday, September 24. Hazel came from a very large family and attended school over the years at both Tamworth and Moree. After finishing school, Hazel worked on the family farm at Walcha. She enjoyed horse riding and always had a love for cats. Hazel’s hobbies included her passion for fashion, dress making and hat making which saw her owning her own dress boutique shop for some years. At one stage during her life, Hazel travelled to England where she lived for two years. Hazel who has lived in Maclean for some time, has been part of the Mareeba family since 2009. The Independent would like to congratulate Hazel on reaching this amazing milestone.
