Have your say on Yamba and Lawrence DA’s

Community input is invited on the alteration of a Yamba medical and childcare centre and an eight lot Lawrence subdivision currently on public display by Clarence Valley Council.

Steve Kirkland on behalf of the Clarence Childhood Services Association has lodged a Development Application (DA) for the former Kangabunnabys Childcare Centre at 2 Providence Court, Yamba.

The DA proposes alterations and additions to the existing childcare centre.

The premises was originally built as a childcare centre, and in 2009 council approved modifications by The Yamba Family Practice, which occupied 150 square metres of the childcare centre.

Now, the current DA proposes to alter the medical centre section of the premises, so it is entirely used for childcare.

The previous changes to the building saw the capacity reduced at the childcare centre from a 90-child facility to 54.

According to the DA, the Clarence Childhood Services Association plans to operate the premises from 6.30am to 6pm.

The landscape of Lawrence is also set to change if a new eight lot subdivision is approved by CVC.

Phillip Murray Wilson has lodged a subdivision application with CVC for four current lots on High Street to be subdivided into eight lots.

A draft of the proposed subdivision shows land areas of the eight blocks ranging from 836 square metres to 3134 square metres in size.

Currently zoned R2 low residential, Mr Wilson is also proposing the development of a new thoroughfare, Fairfax Street, in association with the staged release of the subdivision.

“Develop four lots on the southern side with access from High Street,” Mr Wilson said in the DA.

“Develop remaining four lots on northern side with access off Cook Street with council acquiring the crown land road corridor.”

Clarence Valley Council welcomes submissions from members of the community and industry stakeholders as this helps with informed and transparent decision making.

Submissions can be made on the council’s website and close at 4pm on Monday, December 12.
