Happy Paws Haven animals for adoption

Cats and kittens for adoption this week: We get all cats vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. We have adopted out well over 1200 cats over the last 12 years and only a very very small percentage having developed any illness as a result of the change in environment but now we are being extremely careful. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. Helena is a small gentle cat who was surrendered to us as her owner could no longer keep her. She is a beautiful quiet loving young cat who loves kisses and affection. She is such a gentle soul and as such would be better off in a reasonably quiet household as a companion to an older person would be perfect. She is fine with other animals and with people, but noisy children would probably overwhelm her. When she wants attention she comes up to you and gives you a gentle head butt as if to say… remember me? She absolutely loves to be stroked or to have a gentle scratch all the way down to her tail arching her back to show you how much she is enjoying it. She is micro-chipped, immunised, de-sexed, wormed and de-flead. Carey is a member of the C-team who were rescued in Maclean by a foster carer over a number of days at the end of October 2016, mum named Cara, by the foster carer’s son, was found in a garage as the owner was packing to move out. She had a small dog and she worried whether he might have a go at Cara and her family of very young kittens. They have grown up to be beautiful, slim oriental cross affectionate young cats. They are happy to snuggle, not that keen on being picked up, but love being stroked and having attention paid to them. They will run up to you to say hello and are ready for their new homes. They are micro-chipped, immunised, de-sexed, wormed and de-flead. Jacci is the last of a litter who came to us at the beginning of 2016. They had a very tough start and we were not sure if they would survive. They all have grown into lovely strong healthy beautiful affectionate young cats. Jacci would love to follow in the footsteps of her brothers and sisters and find a loving forever home of her own! She loves her food and is a tad over weight. She has been desexed, immunised, micro-chipped, flead, wormed and vet checked like all the animals here at Happy Paws Haven. Now for the Dogs for adoption for this week: We get all dogs vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. All dogs are also tested to make sure that they do not have heart worm. We have rescued and adopted out well over 1300 dogs over the last 12 years. Marianna, her siblings and her mum came to us very sick. They were dehydrated, full of worms, and had some sort of poison or toxin on board. As soon as they arrived they were rushed to the vet, put on drips etc. We lost one of the pups in the process which was very sad. Four girls and a boy survived the ordeal. The girls Margarite Mariah Marianna and Maribeth are very healthy mischievous pups ready for new homes now. Marlon has had a leg operation, his leg is out of the cast and he is having special remedial treatments to get his muscle tone back in his leg. He plays like a normal pup. They all have lovely natures typical of a ridgeback cross. Dad we think was smaller than mother as they are fine boned and smaller feet. They are beautiful affectionate playful sweet natured pups, fine with people and other dogs. They are now ready to go to puppy pre-school and then onto obedience training. They have been desexed vaccinated microchipped and regularly wormed ready for her their special new home. Here is Shani’s story. We received a call from the owner of a mum with 8 x 3-4 week old puppies in late 2015, saying that she lived in a rough part of South Grafton and she was frightened that neighbours would harm them in some way. The pups have grown up to be loving, affectionate young dogs and almost all have found homes. We have Shani and Sharman left and Sharman is in foster care in Sydney. These beautiful girls have had all their vaccinations, been desexed and microchipped. They have loving natures and are cattle dog smart. They are great athletes, can jump fences usually only to be with you or because they are bored so need to be in homes that have someone home most of the time with space for them to run and play. They really want to please so would be great at obedience, rally O and/or agility or other dog sports. They could also be trained as assistance dogs as they don’t have a mean bone in their bodies. They are affectionate and highly intelligent and would love someone to learn to play ball with or similar. I hope that is you?   Bennie & Bonnie would love a home together. Bennie is approximately 6 years old and has had two homes prior to foster care. Bonnie is approximately 4 years of age and has been living with Bennie since she was a wee pup. Purchased in Queensland from a chicken farm, and having been raised near poultry, they have been trained to look after poultry. In true Maremma fashion these guys need a breed experienced family. They take time to warm up to new people. Bennie likes the occasional game of ball. Bonnie is Miss Independent; she likes to investigate and will come up for a stroke and grooming. Both dogs are best suited to acreage, looking after poultry to keep the foxes at bay and are only family pets to people who understand the breed. They will warn of any visitors or nearby neighbours and they particularly seem perturbed by motorbikes. Bonnie and Bennie are partial to music and find it relaxing; jazz, light opera and country music preferred!  They are affectionate and highly intelligent. They have been desexed vaccinated microchipped and regularly wormed ready for her their special new home. HappyPaws Haven is open 7 days a week for animal adoptions.
