Happy Paws Haven

We would like to THANK everyone who has contributed to our fundraising campaigns; it is so very very much appreciated. We are still in a critical position right now due to the vet bills and need to urgently raise some funds to pay them off we have to find another $13.7k before the end of August and as usual we are struggling to do so. If everyone just donated $2 or $5 and they also asked their friends to do the same, we would be able to get our vet bills up to date and to hopefully renovate the facilities for the dogs and cats which they deserve.

Please spread the word as we really do need your help. Either through PayPal using our email address happypawshaven@bigpond.com or via our bank, the Bendigo Community Bank in South Grafton BSB 633000, Account 130786031 and our account name is Happy Paws Haven Inc. All donations over $2 are tax deductible! Thank you. We are an ACNC endorsed registered charity. Our ABN is 79928920087, CFN 23496

We urgently need more volunteers!

If anyone who is in Grafton or nearby we really need help urgently. If you could help by asking if anyone is able to volunteer even just 3-4 hours on any day of the week it would be great. Maybe animal lovers who don’t have a family nearby, could come and spend time helping us with the animals at Happy Paws Haven. Any time from NOW would be wonderful. Any time would be awesome. This is our very busiest time; we are open 7 days a week as usual.

We are as always looking for volunteers who are passionate about animals. Clarence Valley Volunteering is also trying to assist us too. We urgently need additional volunteers to help us care for the animals, walk the dogs, groom the cats and to share their love. Dress in your oldest clothes, jeans and a T-shirt is good, with work boots or sneakers; bring a snack and a drink. Cuddling and playing with the animals is compulsory.

We need people to help with office data entry skills and admin skills.

We need people to help with our fund raisers for the love animals.

We also need help with maintenance especially after all these high winds, they have made some damage

There are all sorts of things that need to be done….

And every bit of help counts! Come and visit to see what we do!

Come and help us with the animals and/or fundraising for their care!

Rescues and Surrenders

We are trying to limit the number of animals being rescued as you know. We are still getting lots and lots of calls daily asking for help and we are turning them away as we have not the funds and volunteers at the moment to take any more. It is all about our capacity to care and we are at our limit currently. No new rescues or surrenders of cats but we have had a litter of eight pups dumped and separately two adult dogs surrendered this week.

Adoptions

We had five dog adoptions this week, all but one were rehomed outside of the Clarence Valley, and one cat adoption.

Cats and kittens for adoption this week:

We get all cats vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. We have adopted out well over 1200 cats over the last 12 years and only a very very small percentage having developed any illness as a result of the change in environment but now we are being extremely careful. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. Our rehoming number is 251000043.

Ervin

My name is Ervin, I was dumped in a box with 10 other kittens and our mother outside one of the committee members house. She had lots of cats of her own and just could not afford to take on all of us as well so we went into foster care. I have had an operation and with two others from the kitten house and now we are ready to find a wonderful loving home, all our friends will be having an operation soon. We are all loving friendly affectionate young teenage cats between 6-8 months old waiting for a loving home. Microchip is 900079000382714.

Torri

Torri and her three siblings came at the same time as Erica and her family. They were found out near Clarence Way not far from a creek in the bush, they were young and friendly not at all wild. They were picked up put in a box and left at our gate with the hope we would find them before the dogs or the eagles. They are only slightly younger than Erik and his family. All are black with little tiny tufts of white in their ears or their chest or under their chin with the exception of Toshi. They are all very friendly affectionate young cats. They are all desexed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, regularly wormed and deflead ready for their new homes. Microchip is 900079000382715.

Lorelei

My name is Lorelei; I was dumped in a box with three other kittens outside a house up near Whiporie on the way to Casino. The person who found us could not afford to take us in so contacted Happy Paws Haven and they found someone to look after us. We are now about 8 months old and we have all had an operation and had our needles, now we are ready to find a wonderful loving home. We are all loving, friendly and affectionate young teenage cats full of mischief and love to play, we are curious about everything around us especially anything new. Microchip is 900079000382717.

Dogs for adoption for this week:

We get all dogs vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. All dogs are also tested to make sure that they do not have heart worm. We have rescued and adopted out well over 1300 dogs over the last 12 years. Our Rehoming number is 251000043.

Woofy

My name is Woofy; I came here with my mother Blacky. We are kelpies and our owner had to move and could not take us with her. We are lovely active affectionate dogs, I love being with people and we both get on with other dogs. I just want to please my human so would be great at agility, herding, obedience, scent work, Rally O or anything I can use my brain. I would make someone a good companion and I would love to sit by their feet at night. We are both desexed immunised and chipped already to go to our new homes. My micro-chip is 900079000382735

Tiny

Tiny is a beautiful Roti Shepherd cross who is fine with most other dogs. He came up from Sydney as his owner’s landlord would not let him have him stay at the shop where he lived upstairs. He has a great nature but can be possessive of food when another dog hovers around his dish when eating although this has become much better. He is fine with humans as he lets me take his bowl away and give it back without a drama. He loves to play ball, loves the water especially in our splash pools. He is house trained but is dominant dog when in his own yard so needs an experienced owner with a firm fair but loving hand, like all dogs and children need consistent rules and boundaries. He is mellowing as he gets older. He loves cuddles and being stroked. He is desexed, immunised, heart worm tested and micro-chipped ready for his new home. Microchip is 978102100105763.

Sootie

My name is Sootie after my mum; she was a lab kelpie cross. We came to Happy Paws as our mum’s owner could not keep us anymore. We love playing with the other pups here and I love lots of cuddles too. I am here with my brother Storm. I would love some kids to play with and a family to be with. I sleep at night inside in my own crate now which gives me plenty of room to stretch out in. I am only very young so still need to go to puppy school and to go to training. Please help me to find my own special family, or sponsor me to help pay for my care. I am now desexed micro-chipped, immunised ready for my new home. Microchip is 900079000630598.
