Cats and kittens for adoption this week

We get all cats vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. We have adopted out well over 1200 cats over the last 12 years and only a very very small percentage having developed any illness as a result of the change in environment but now we are being extremely careful. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive.

Kimi

Kimi came to us with her mother and 4 siblings early in 2017. Her mother was found on a vacant property with no form of identification and no one knowing where she came from so we called her Kinky as she had a kink in her tail and some of the offspring do too! Kimi is a beautiful black and white teenager. She can be a little shy when first meeting you but is extremely affectionate gentle loving playful young cat once she gets to know you who has been desexed, vaccinated and micro-chipped ready for his new home.

Riva

Riva is a member of Rianne’s beautiful litter 5 kittens. Four are torti girls who we still have, their mother and their brother have already gone to separate loving homes. We were called to the aboriginal community in Maclean early last year they were having a problem with some community cats who were continually breeding and their kittens. All the queens were pregnant again and they just did not know what to do. So we caught all the kittens and the queens put them into foster care and then got them all desexed. We returned all but one of the queens after they were desexed and kept all the kittens. All these lovely young cats are very affectionate, love cuddles and happy to be stroked. They are all desexed microchipped and immunised now ready for their new homes.

Nairie

Nairie was rescued as a kitten with her siblings towards the end of 2017. Two ladies arrived late one afternoon with 10 cats and kittens as they were homeless and had nowhere to live. Thankfully we had a lovely foster carer who look them all in until they were old enough to be desexed etc. Nairie can be extremely affectionate loving young lady one minute and then a little bit hard to get the next minute as if she is playing a game. She is a healthy happy playful loving cuddly mischievous vet checked young beautiful young cat with a very loving nature and temperament when she wants to be. She is immunised micro-chipped and desexed ready for her new loving home.

Dogs for adoption for this week

We get all dogs vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. All dogs are also tested to make sure that they do not have heart worm. We have rescued and adopted out well over 1300 dogs over the last 12 years.

Abby

Abby is a special young lady as she was a very reluctant surrender. She loves people, she walks well on a lead, she is fine with other dogs and does not take much notice of cats but if one ran in front of her I am not sure where she would chase it or not. She also is quite a good ratter. She would make a good companion dog as she loves being with her human. She would also make a great family dog but needs to continue her training. She comes when called and sits when asked. Although she is fine with other dogs when out playing in neutral territory, when it comes to sharing her human in a household she who be better as a single dog unless the other dog is a male but even then I think she would be better on her own. Abby is desexed, chipped and vaccinated.

Here is Shaggy’s Story. We received a call from his owner due to a change in circumstances she was moving to Brisbane with her family as her landlord was selling the house and she had got a new job but she could not take her dog with her as her new accommodation would not allow it. Shaggy is a beautiful chocolate and white border collie cross who needs a play mate, gets on with cats as he lived with one. He loves playing with children and gets on well with other dogs. We are not sure what he was crossed with but mum was a pure border collie and dad could be a German pointer or vizsla or Irish terrier or something similar as he has a shaggy wiry coat. He has been in a loving family environment so ideally we would like to find him a similar home. He does need some training but he does come when called, sits etc. He is ok course desexed microchipped and immunised ready for his new home.

Mr Max J

Mr Max J would make someone a great guard dog, he will bark and look fierce to anyone he does not know especially if there is a fence between you. But if you have a quiet chat to him on his side of the fence and let him come to you he will do so with a smile and a wag of his tail. I am sure this is where the saying of all bark and no bite comes from. He can be very scary at first and all our volunteers have been fooled by him. When you first meet him like any dog stand still he will come up sniff you and then ask for a pat. BUT like us all if someone creeps up or puts a hand in our face we might react and Max might too! He is a very loyal companion and once bonded with you will be by your side fore ever through thick and thin.
