Happy Paws Haven

I need your help! I am looking for someone who is semi retired or similar, who has a passion for animals and has been a manager or business owner or like myself took early retirement from the senior corporate environment. I turned 70 last week-end. I am looking for a new leader for Happy Paws Haven, I need a succession plan, I need someone who has leadership and business development skills to work with me with the ultimate aim of taking ownership of building and implementing a strategic plan for Happy Paws with plan of taking over Leadership in the medium term to implement the strategic plan ensuring that it is successful. They must have the passion to continue to develop Happy Paws Haven to be sustainable and to grow not in animal numbers more in animal rehabilitation services where the general public can bring their dog or cat with issues and to learn with the animal how to resolve the issues. We would also like to be able to offer some accommodation for the people with their animals so they can be with their animals on the journey. Maybe build a day play centre for dogs to do some simple tracking and scent work, swim in a dam etc. mental stimulation and socialisation activities, thus bringing something new to the Clarence Valley. People might like to stay and help for a short period and experience what happens at a sanctuary such as Happy Paws Haven. These are only ideas which need to be explored to see what is feasible. We have the land, the space but we need to generate funds to be sustainable. The start of the year Our New Year was quiet which is not surprising in our current environment. The pups and kittens have grown and all are now vaccinated, desexed and microchipped and are ready to go to their new homes at the end of the week. Our final adoption numbers achieved for 2020 were 69 cats adopted during the year and 141 dog adoptions in the same period giving a total of 210 adoptions for 2020 which is wonderful! For 2021 we have had already 9 dogs and 8 cats adopted with more scheduled during this coming week. We have had a dog surrendered due to his owner becoming homeless and an older pair of dogs surrendered due to their owner moving and not being able to take the dogs with them. We also had two adult cats surrendered due to a marriage breakup and three kittens due to not being able to afford to do the vet work necessary to rehome them responsibly. We are desperately needing help with the animals especially the dogs on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. We also urgently need of some handy people as well to help us renovate the dog cabins and cattery, this is really urgent. The second yard has been completed now but the cabin needs finishing, a shed to build, the cattery to fix up and the outside enclosure to finish. We still need to go through each yard, fix all the cabins including their ventilation systems and fence stays. We are trying hard to find some people who can come regularly to help with the animals. Please spread the word as we really do need your help! Again we need help, any contribution large and small, everything counts. People can contribute either by volunteering their time or donating towards these projects through PayPal using our email address happypawshaven@bigpond.com or via our bank, the Bendigo Community Bank in South Grafton BSB 633000, Account 130786031 and our account name is Happy Paws Haven Inc. All donations over $2 are tax deductible! Thank you. We are an ACNC endorsed registered charity. Our ABN is 79928920087, CFN 23496 Cuddling and playing with the animals is compulsory. We also need people to help with office data entry skills and admin skills. We need people to help with our fund raisers for the love animals. There are all sorts of things that need to be done…And every bit of help counts! Come and visit to see what we do. Come and help us with the animals and/or fundraising for their care. Happy Paws Haven Volunteers and members meeting Our next members meeting will take place this Sunday February 14th, 2021 at Happy Paws Haven, yes it is Valentine’s Day. As it is Daylight Saving, our meeting will start at 2.30pm and finishing by about 4.30pm. We would love some new members, some fresh ideas to assist us move forward in this new environment caused by Covid-19. If you would like to become a member of Happy Paws Haven, contact happypawshaven@bigpond.com to get a membership application to fill out, bring it to the meeting. You will need to bring $20 membership fee. We need new ideas for the remainder of 2020 and beyond. We need a new fund-raising team, people to write our animal stories and what we do for social media so come and join us and contribute to the team at HappyPaws Haven where all ideas are good ideas! Rescues and surrenders We are trying to limit the number of animals being rescued as you know! Our restrictions are not only financial but also due to vet availability. We are restricting our capacity to keep our numbers down due to Covid19 and the impact on our donations. Our numbers in care are being carefully maintained. We have closed the doors as we are full! We are only taking animals in crisis. Cats and Kittens for adoption this week We get all cats vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. We have adopted out well over 1200 cats over the last 12 years and only a very very small percentage having developed any illness as a result of the change in environment but now we are being extremely careful. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. Our Rehoming number is R251000043 Linc with his mother and his siblings were surrendered as their owner could not afford to keep them get all the vet work done and feed them properly. Linc is very affectionate playful mischievous young kitten with loads of personality. Linc is a typical black and white Birman, a loving playful kitten with slightly feisty but timid nature. He has been desexed chipped and immunised. 991003000829327 My name is Auriel, and my two sisters were found with our mother, were dumped in a park with nowhere to go, Mum did not know what to do, but she knew that she had to hide us until she found somewhere safe to go. Mum is timid and a little shy, she likes being stroked and happy to be picked up. My sisters and I have had very little to do with people so we are not so sure about them at all, we don’t run and hide anymore. We are getting used to being stroked and pick up but not for long. They say we are feisty, but we still a little scared! I know if some someone is gentle and patient we would soon learn to trust, it may take a little time but we are only young. We need a quiet home not with young children or noisy teenagers. We are desexed, chipped, immunised and regularly treated for parasites since we have been in care. 991003000593888 Thuraya arrived at Happy Paws Haven with her mother Thunder and two siblings. They grew up with 5 other unrelated kittens, who Thunder had taken them on as if they were hers. The carer they were all with supplement fed them all every 4-5 hours to help Thunder look after them. All are beautiful healthy playful friendly mischievous young cats. Thuraya is a typical oriental cat, highly intelligent, curious naughty and makes its presence known. She is desexed, microchipped, immunised and regularly treat for parasites 991003000829328 Dogs for adoption for this week We get all dogs vet checked prior to adoption to make sure that we comply to the standards required by any pet shop. All our animals are microchipped, immunised and desexed as soon as possible after they arrive. All dogs are also tested to make sure that they do not have heart worm. We have rescued and adopted out well over 1300 dogs over the last 12 years. Our Rehoming number is 251000043 Dina was surrendered as her owner had to move and could not take her with them. When she came she was very afraid and shy, had no idea how to play or mix with people or other dogs. Since being here she has come out of her shell, now comes to greet you and say hello. She is also fine with other dogs as well but can get over whelmed very quickly. She is a very gentle soul so probably needs to be in a quiet household. She seems fine with older kids as they are generally not as rough as younger ones can be. She wants to please and be with someone who will give her love and attention. 991003000829330 Dee is a beautiful gentle natured greyhound retired from a successful racing career. She is a 7-year old brindle female greyhound who loves to please. She has had a couple of minor injuries and given her age her trainer felt it was time for her to retire. Dee is a lovely girl who loves to be with people and relax in some ones yard, so need a forever home, Dee is happy with other dogs, gentle with children and can be a real couch potato. She still needs the opportunity to run round a yard when she wants to probably once or twice a day! She has been immunised, micro-chipped, de-sexed, wormed, heart worm treated and de-flead too. 956000003048894 Roxy was found abandoned on the corner of Summerland Way and Clarence Way on Christmas Eve. Her owner was tracked down only to find out that she had given Roxy away to a friend 2-3 weeks before. She could not keep her as she was in a rental that did not allow animals and had insufficient fencing for a dog such as Roxy. Over the Christmas weekend she came and officially surrendered Roxy to Happy Paws Haven. She is a happy friendly dog who loves to play ball and be part of a family. She would be better as an only dog but is happy with dogs smaller than her or a similar size so she does not feel threatened. We have had her Vet checked, we microchipped her, vaccinated her and had her de-sexed ready for her new home. 991003000829344 HappyPaws Haven is open seven days a week for animal adoptions.
