GVMVC prepares for 2018 Motorfest

Lynne Mowbray | Preparations are underway for this weekend’s motoring festival, which will be hosted by the Grafton Vintage Motor Vehicle Club (GVMVC) at the club’s headquarters at Jabour Park, Minden Street, South Grafton. Event spokesperson Wendy Gibbs said that entries are still filtering in for this year’s event. “We had around 200 entries last year and we expect that we will have about the same this year,” Ms Gibbs said. “We will also have a few vintage caravans on display. “This year we will have 19 market stalls for the public and a video presentation will also be running all day, in the marquee. “We are encouraging people to dress up to match their car (or the era of their favourite car) and on Sunday (only) we will be running Fashions on the Field, with secret judging taking place from 10am. “There will be plenty of things to keep the whole family happy; a jumping castle, show and shine display, emergency services displays, swap meet and entertainment all day on Saturday featuring local artists. “We will even have a Police Highway Patrol car drop in for an hour on both days. “A canteen will be running, as well as an ice cream and coffee van. “The gates will open from 6am for car entries and 8am for the general public. “Entry is by gold coin donation or $10 to enter your car,” she said.
