Greg Harvison clinches Jacaranda Open

Despite the fact that a large number of regular interstate visitors were unable to attend, a strong field of just under 150 starters contested the annual Tooheys and Graton Air & Daikin 36-hole Jacaranda Open.

With rounds of 73 and 77 (total 150), Greg Harvison playing off a scratch handicap was the winner of the overall gross event for the third time, previously winning the Jacaranda Cup in 1995 and 2000.  Just two shots in arrears to Greg with rounds of 75 & 77 (152 total) was Matt Worthing (1) who is no stranger to success in this particular competition having won the Jacaranda Cup on several occasions throughout his long golfing career.  Next in line to feature in last weekend’s 36-hole competition was Matt McKee (plus 1) with rounds of 76 & 78, totalling 154.  Also with a total gross score of 154 was Urunga visitor, Craig Hyde (1) with scores of 73 & 81.

In the handicap scheme of things, for the Paul Hajjar Jacaranda Shield, it was Sebastian Cox (27) who claimed victory with nett scores of 63 & 71 (134 total). Sebastian easily won the nett event with his nearest rival being Henri Arnold (36) nine shots in arrears with scores of nett 80 on Saturday followed by a blistering nett 63 on Sunday. Also with 2nd round total of 143 was Woolgoolga golfer Michael Johnson (15) with two consistent round of 72 & 71. Thanks to our sponsors of the event, Tooheys and Grafton Air & Daikin. There were a huge amount of trophies on offer, too many to reproduce and recognise in this report. To determine if you were one of the many prize winners, refer to the official results sheet located in the Club.
