Grafton VIEW ‘Christmas in July’

Do you know the best way to break the cycle of entrenched poverty?

The answer to this is “Education”. Grafton VIEW Club is committed to supporting young Australians with their education. VIEW is a national children’s charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to succeed at school so that they can create a better future for themselves. Further information can be found when visiting www.view.org.au

This month President Faye Stone presented Anne McLennan with her member’s badge.

The raffle was won by Merrell Trill, and the lucky door prize went to Helen Cashel.

The mid-month social will be a Christmas in July, to be held on Wednesday, July 14 at the Whitehouse in Prince Street.

The guest speaker for the month of June was Mark Blackadder, manager of the Jacaranda Festival. Mark recently took out the “Local Tourism Hero Award” at the “Destination North Coast” awards. He was nominated by the Clarence Valley Council for his efforts with the “Biggest & Best 2019 Jacaranda Festival”, and the success of the “Go Purple Campaign 2020”.

Mark spoke of his background and handed round a copy of a preliminary program showing the plan for an enormous festival this year. “This Jacaranda Festival will offer something for everyone”, he said. Coopers & The Village Green have sponsored the illumination of every Jacaranda tree in market Square. It will be a great project offering wonderful entertainment for all. The guest speaker for July will be Suzanne Gibson, who will speak about what is available in researching family history.

The July Grafton VIEW Club meeting will be on Tuesday 27 at the Grafton District Services Club, Mary Street Grafton commencing at 10.30am. You are invited to come along & enjoy yourself with friendship, a yummy luncheon & a motivated guest speaker. At the same time this is your opportunity to support children in need.
