Grafton VIEW celebrates 52 Years!

Everyone loves a birthday party!

The importance of birthdays is not how many you have had, but rather how well you have celebrated. And, that’s just what VIEW did. Ninety one guests joined to celebrate VIEW’s 52 years in Grafton. Together, friendship was extended with the simple, but rewarding, pleasure of sharing a tasty meal at the Grafton District Services Club. At the same time a child’s education was ultimately supported in breaking the cycle of disadvantage. Now, that in itself is a celebration!

At the birthday luncheon, Val Chalker, Past National Counsellor, presented Helen Cashel with her 20 years membership badge.

The Jacaranda Party arrived to partake in greeting all a Happy 52nd Birthday.

Then Val Chalker, Faye Stone and Helen Cashel cut the pretty birthday cake to be shared around the decorated Jacaranda tables. The cake was made by VIEW member Norma Merlino.

Various members presented themselves to be judged as Jacaranda Queen and Princess. That was a hard choice. Barbara Franks was chosen as Queen, and Elaine Stephenson as Princess. A little frivolity followed with a “Jacaranda Parade”.

Entertainment followed a tasty meal with the Grafton Ukettes. Members sang along, and tapped their feet to well-known favourites.

There were many Tombola prizes distributed to gleeful winners, as well as lucky door prizes. The main raffle had amazing prizes, such as a microwave oven, alabaster clock, jewellery and a lot more.

The prizes went to the following winners: Belinda Steele; Joy Ford; Barbara Franks; Ailsa Moran; Elaine Stephenson; Mary Reynolds; Helen Payne; Colleen Ross; Heather Hughes; Von Rodgers; Cheryl Shepherd. GDSC vouchers went to Joyce Campbell; Sandra Simpson; Arthur Bernard, & Pat Connelly. Congratulations!

VIEW has so much to offer, so why not come along to our next meeting in 2020. You will make new friends, and renew the old ones. The most important point is that you will be supporting, and making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children.

The first meeting in 2020 will be held on Tuesday February 25. Please make the decision to come along and phone Vorna on 6642 4719 for catering purposes.
