Show organisers are predicting that this year’s Grafton Show will be bigger and better than ever, with something for all the family.

The list of things to see and do is extensive.

The pavilions will showcase a wide variety of produce, art/craft and cooking etc.

The main pavilion ‘The Barn’ will be bursting at the seams; housing a variety of displays: Decorated cakes, needlework, craft, floral art, cut flowers and pot plants, home brew, cooking, preserves, scrapbooking, art and photography.

New sections for the pavilion will be Alpaca yarn and items made from Alpaca yarn, plus Lego for junior competitors. Porcelain dolls and ceramics will also make a comeback this year. Another first for the show will be a cat show.

Other pavilions include the poultry pavilion, cage birds and produce pavilion where you can enter in the giant pumpkin competition. Another addition this year is the Kids and Youth pavilion which will host free activities for the kids and youth.

Trade exhibits will include: food stalls, commercial exhibitors and community organisations.

Some of the activities in the main ring include: bush dog trial and dog high jump competition, show jumping and other equestrian events. Olympic veteran John Fahey will judge the showjumping event.

The Young Farmer Challenge is always a popular event and will take place in the main ring on Saturday. Other entertainment also includes the ‘all wheels quad bike racing’, the Abbey Motel Outback Spectacular, demolition derby and monster fireworks display.

Some of the other entertainment and things to see outside the main ring include, wood chopping, reptile world, racing pigs, animal nursery native bees and honey bee honey extraction, lapidary, vintage machinery display and blacksmith’s working exhibition.

Apart from the showjumping, there will be horses of every description: miniature horses, Shetlands, Clydesdale and Shire horses. There are also beef cattle, Alpaca and miniature goats.

The official opening will take place in the main ring on Saturday afternoon, where the 2019 Grafton Showgirls (junior and senior), will be announced.

This year’s official guest is ABC North Coast Radio’s ‘Gardening Guru’ Phil Dudman, who will open the show. Phil will also be running the kids and youth gardening sessions and talking with fruit and veggie gardeners in the Produce Pavilion, as well as the pot plant and flower growers in the main pavilion.

ABC North Coast Radio will also be broadcasting their Saturday morning gardening program, live from the show.

With so much to do and see, you just have to get along and check out this year’s Grafton Show.
