Grafton Shoppingworld ‘Senior Sportsperson Of The Month for July’

Martina Williams (Grafton) – Hockey

Martina played a major role for the NSW State team who finished fourth at the Australian Under 18 Girls Hockey Championships at Hobart on July 1-9. She scored five goals in the first four matches, including four from penalty corners, to help NSW finish top of Pool A, before succumbing in shootouts to both Victoria and Western Australia Gold in the finals.

Meanwhile, Martina was selected in the NSW CHS Open Girls Hockey team after helping guide North Coast to win the state titles at Kurnell on June 7-9. Despite winning in emphatic fashion, with wins against Western (4-0), Sydney West (9-0) and South Coast (3-2), before defeating Sydney South West 5-0 in the semi-final and South Coast 3-1 in the final, Martina and Coffs Harbour’s Breah Fischer were the only North Coast players named in the state side.

In May, Martina also represented Grafton at the NSW Under-18 Girls Division One Championships at Narellan.
