Winners of the July point score were announced prior to the swim commencing, and coming home in third place was Debbie Smith. Second was a tie between Bob Owen and Bruce Durrington, and with a good ten point lead, and winner of the T & S Classic Trophy, was Tyler Durrington. It was also very encouraging to see two new faces amongst the fairer sex. A warm welcome was given to Sue and Lee Munns as they competed in the heats to establish a nomination time in readiness for next week. The first event to be run in the weekly programme was the Stephen Donnelly Explosive Cup and Jenny Vickery, Bruce and Tyler Durrington, Ian Goodman and David Moon were the contestants. Ian, Jenny and David went hell for leather in this short course race, but to no avail, as they all busted their times. Durro Snr., kept his cool and took the win just .12 ahead of Durro Jnr. A 50m relay replaced the usual 50m contest and those progressing through the heats were Bruce Durrington partnered by Anne Simkus, Geoff Simkus, swimming with Terry Marsh and the hot favourites of Steve Donnelly and David Moon. The Bruce/Anne combination threw out a challenge to the opposing teams by taking a commanding lead, but at the final touch were deemed as travelling too fast. This break gave the win to Geoff and Marshy. With the thought of the following barbeque on their minds, finalists in the 25m B B & B were anxious to end the nights proceedings. Jenny Vickery, Richard Sear, Tyler Durrington, Ian Goodman and David Moon faced the starter and as the hooter sounded Jenny and Richard hit the water together, followed at intervals by the others. Ian, who has shown some form over the past few weeks was first to cover the distance, but once again was far too quick. Searsy was awarded the win from Tyler and Jenny. Jess Wainwright and Bruce Durrington carried out the cooking duties at the barbeque, and as usual, their help is always appreciated. Toni Ensbey
