Grafton Services Pairs Champions decided

Grafton Services Mens Bowling Club Pairs Championship reached a climax on Saturday May 7 with the final two teams doing battle in the championship decider for 2022.

Keith Garner & Robbie Power took on Gary Harrison & Allan Knox for the 2022 title on the greens at the GDSC with a healthy crowd of spectators looking on.

Gary & Allan had the better of the start leading 5 – 2 after five ends, however Keith & Robbie hit straight back with four shots over the following two ends to take the lead 6 – 5.

The following five ends proved to be a crutial period in the match with Gary & Allan winning four of the five ends and racing to a lead of 20 – 7 with nine ends to play in the twenty-one-end final.

Gary & Allan were far from finished though and continued to produce that one crucial shot in some very tight ends, scoring five single shots and only one multiple to eventually take the title by 19 shots, although the score in the end was not an indication of the closeness of the game.

Final score: Gary Harrison & Allan Knox 29 d Keith Garner & Robbie Power 10.

Congratulations to Gary & Allan on being this year’s Major Pairs champions, and commiserations to Keith & Robbie who will no doubt be back next year to try to go one better.
