Grafton Services Major Pairs victors

What a busy week it has been. The club Major Pairs final was played on Sunday morning between the pairings of Neville Henwood and Paul Cubbin up against Garry Harrison and Alan Knox. Neville and Paul got off to a flying start, taking a good early lead of 10 shots to 3 after the first 8 ends and they never gave Garry and Alan a chance to catch up going on to win 23-12. Congratulations and commiserations but well played gentlemen. The Grade 3 and 6 Pennants sides chalked up their first wins for the season on Saturday, both securing 9 points to 1 wins on Saturday against Iluka and Maclean respectively. The 3’s were fairly comfortable in their victory but the 6’s had to fight to the end, only securing their victory in the last 2 ends. The 7’s continued on with their winning ways, defeating Yamba away from hope 10 to nil, which is a great effort. Sunday saw the 6’s travel to Yamba to finish off the washed-out game from the week before. Unfortunately, the sides all went down, losing 10 nil. Friday had 48 players on the GDSC Greens in what were some very nice conditions. Winners on the day were L Newcomb and B Buckley whilst runners up went to S McClymont and M Walsh and the lucky losers were P Perkins D Cutts. There were two good bowlers on the day but the LSR Little Smash Repairs resting toucher award was won by S McClymont with an early time of 13:33 (one minute before the other resting toucher). Wednesday had good numbers of 42 bowlers at the GDSC enjoying some pleasant bowls and some pleasant company. Winners on the day were K Foster and R Toovey with runners up going to D Wood and R Grant. The lucky losers were from the triples game, namely R Pym, A Graham and R Douglas. The LSR Little Smash Repairs resting toucher winner was won by A Madden with his second bowl, at a time of 13:01. Good luck this weekend for all grades in Pennants. Leith Basset
