Grafton Services bowlers support Trenayr RFS

On Wednesday January 26 (Australia Day), our men and lady bowlers jointly organised and staged a fund-raising bowls evening to raise funds for the Trenayr Rural Fire Service, and 72 bowlers attended for a fun social game of bowls followed by a BBQ.

The overall winners on the day, which was decided by a lucky draw, were the team of: (lead) Sue George; (second) Ruth Payne; (skip) Neil Payne.

After ten ends in their particular game, this team’s lead (Sue George) asked her skip Neil Payne if she could skip; but Neil persevered and finished up the winners.

At the end of the day the bowlers had raised over $2000 plus the proceeds from our Christmas Party raffle of $400, and the GDSC were kind enough to round up the proceeds from the day to $3000.

Many thanks to all our sponsors, especially the men’s & ladies Bowling Clubs who generously paid for half the BBQ each, and a big thank you to our organisers, Mark Walsh, Toni Shorten and Alan Gough. This event will be staged again on Australia Day 2023.
