Grafton Services bowlers remember a real ‘Character’

Saturday November 6 was an important day on the calander for the members of the G.D.S.C. Mens Bowling Club.

This was the day our club remembered one of our club’s real ‘characters’ of past years in Chris Bennett, who we sadly lost, late in 2017.

This annual day was generously sponsored by Chris’ brother Joe Bennett of ‘Penrith Air’ in Sydney, Clarence Valley Council and the G.D.S.C. Thank you for your support, as these carnivals just cannot happen without you.

Unfortunately, Joe Bennett who has regularly joined us in past years was unable to attend this year.

Initially, due to Covid restrictions, we were forced to restrict entry to teams from our own G.D.S.C. Bowling Club, however some restrictions were lifted just in time for us to except extra entries from outside our LGA and we thank those teams for their support. In the end we had twenty teams entered and a successful carnival was assured.

The format for the day was three games of sixteen ends, two bowl triples. Each team received 20 points for each win, and one point for each end won in each game. In the event of a tie, margins would decide the placings.

At the conclusion of the third game, the placings were as follows:
