Grafton Senior Citizens – May meeting

Grafton Senior Citizens recently held May general meeting, attendance 70 members, apologies 15.

Guest speaker, Sue Kippax from Fair Trading, spoke about Australian Consumer Law. There are 19 Fair Trading Offices in NSW, including Grafton at Service NSW. Under consumer law, customers have rights. If you pay for something, and it isn’t of acceptable quality, isn’t what you asked for, ordered, or were told you would get, or is different to its description, you are legally entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund.

Birthday wishes to those celebrating during month. Best wishes to anyone on sick list, including Ellen Mulherin and Judy Timms. Sympathy to the families of former members, Doris Perkins and Gordon Wade, who recently passed away.

Welcome new members, Daphne Gosson, Maxine Shields, Janice Maunder, Carol Smidt, Patricia Starr.

General business included; latest NSW & North Coast seniors papers available; May newsletter currently being distributed; most membership for existing members now paid; successful soup and games day just held. Mention made of books and diaries available at rooms. Mention also made of Heartland magazine. Arrangements will be made for a course on elementary computers at TAFE for interested members.

Next day bus trip to Stuarts Point & Scotts Head is Friday May 31 and is almost full. The day trip to a mystery venue in late June still has some spare seats.

The seven day tour to Lake Macquarie area from August 16 has been finalised, but reserves will be noted.
