Grafton Senior Citizens – December meeting

Grafton Seniors recently held their December meeting, with an attendance of 44, and nine apologies. 

Birthday wishes to all those celebrating.

Our sympathy to Roger Green on the passing of his wife, Dot.

We welcomed a new member, Rod Mitchell.

Our guest speaker was Duncan McKimm, CEO, of Clarence Village. We were informed the Village started 51 years ago, due to a need for seniors’ accommodation. Members were urged to arrange home care packages for use when needed. He advised Grafton Community Bus is to join Clarence Village next year. Thanks, Clarence Village, for a sizeable donation to seniors to aid finances. 

Presentations: Special certificates, Judith Ireland & Trish Collett, for their generosity of items for raffle prizes & trade table. Seniors of Year, Iris & Ivan Parker for support of seniors, & making of jams & pickles for trade table.

Correspondence out: a sympathy card, Ellen Mulherin; get well card, Judith Ireland; welcome letter, Rod Mitchell; letter to Clarence Village CEO.

General business: all newsletters distributed; dates to finish and restart Christmas break; fees can be paid; library has home delivery for pre-arranged cases of illness; think about nominations for the committee at March AGM; suggestions for guest speakers needed.

Special thanks to Buckley Music for the use of a sound system each meeting day. 

Trips: day trips to Bellingen – February 25; Alstonville – March 25 (both have vacancies); 8-day Queensland tour from August 13 (can also take more bookings).
