Grafton Senior Citizens – annual Christmas luncheon

Around 87 senior citizens members, along with invited guests, entertainers and Grafton High School special class children and teachers (a total of around 115), recently attended the group’s annual Christmas luncheon.

Entertainment was provided by Lynnyrose & Roger Broadway ‘Cruisin’ Broadway’, with well known popular songs, along with some Christmas music.

President, Charlie welcomed invited guests, Chris Gulaptis (patron); Steve & Sandy Donnelly; Arthur & Jo Lysaght (trustees); Alan & Gail Ryall (coach driver). Apologies from Chris & Bev Wheelahan (hon solicitor).

A two course luncheon, cooked by Meals on Wheels, was served by Grafton High School special class, and teachers, led by Lindel, with meat  and five vegetables, followed by dessert of plum pudding, jelly, custard, cream.

Each member received a diary, compliments of local state member, and chocolates. Lollies were also on the table.

Congratulations to member, Ann Moran, awarded senior of year, as well as Kay Whiteman, Mary Austin, Lorraine Rumble, each awarded a special certificate for long serving support of the group.

Sincere thanks to all who attended, to entertainers for the wonderful music, all involved with cooking and serving meal, and to the hard working committee for setting up and decorating tables, and all behind the scenes work.

After the December meeting, and final week of activities, the group will go into recess on Friday December 13, with most activities resuming the week commencing January 20. There is no meeting in January, so the next meeting is Tuesday February 11, followed by AGM on March 10, with the general meeting.

All members are wished a happy, healthy, and safe festive season.
