Grafton Senior Citizens

Grafton Senior Citizens recently held their February general meeting, the first for year, with a great attendance of 71 members and 15 apologies. Birthday wishes to those celebrating during month, and best wishes to anyone on the sick list, including Peter Tranter and Jenny Blanch. Sincere sympathy to Noeline Welch, whose brother recently passed away. Also to family of former member, Fay Skelly who also recently passed away. Welcome to following new members: Agnes McCrae; Helen Baker; Janette Nethercott; Valerie Hendrie; Jill & Alwyn Campbell. General business included: Trading table held at meeting; sale of piano has been finalised, but is yet to be collected. New members are welcome to join group, and anyone over age 50 may apply. Enquiries can be made with members at Community Centre, Duke St, any Thursday, or come along to a meeting on 2nd Tuesday of month. First trip for year, a day to Dorrigo, including historical museum, on Friday, 26 February, has been on sale since late last year, and still has spare seats. The extended tour, including Thunderbolts Way, Port Stephens, and Newcastle for seven days from August 19, has been on sale a few weeks, and is already fully booked. Names will still be taken for a waiting list. A day trip to Tweed Art Gallery and Margaret Olley Art Centre at Murwillumbah on Friday, April 8 has just gone on sale. A day trip to Outback Spectacular on Gold Coast for a three course lunch and show, Sunday, June 26 has also just gone on sale, with spare seats still available. To purchase tickets in advance, bookings will need to be finalised in early June. Regular meeting competition winners were: A Campbell; I Parker; H Smith; A Moran; Z Want; J Schulz. With some committee, including president and secretary, not standing for re-election at the AGM on March 8, nominations are open for all positions, with forms available from committee. Due to bookings of rooms by other groups, following cancellations will apply: carpet bowls and Mah-Jong – Wednesday, March 9, and Wednesday, May 18; craft and Hoi – Thursday, April 7; Mah-Jong and euchre – Friday, April 8. Annual membership fees of $5, are now due. Next general meeting and AGM, 10am Tuesday, March 8. Sandra Connelly
