Grafton Senior Citizens

Grafton Seniors November general meeting, including a trade table, saw an attendance of 51, and apologies from seven.

Guest speaker, Bob McFarlane, spoke about his involvement as President of Grafton Meals on Wheels. The group started about 60 years ago, at a Cathedral Hall, then to Pioneer rooms in Kemp Street, and moved to the current building near netball courts about 30 years ago. They do a variety of meals, with over 100 per day.   

Birthday wishes to those celebrating and get well wishes to those on the sick list.

There were no new members and no deaths reported.

Minutes of previous meeting were distributed.

Correspondence in: Thank you from Mary Austin; statements from Westlawn Finance: letters from Stroke group.

Correspondence out: Get well card to Michelle Sales; letter to Clarence Village.

Treasurer’s report was read to members.

General business: due to current uncertainties, Christmas lunch on December 3, has been cancelled. Grocery donations required for hamper raffle, to be drawn December meeting, along with special announcements.   

Trips: Yamba boat cruise on October 15, was changed to a scenic drive at short notice, due to boat unavailable. Evans Head annual picnic on November 19, has been cancelled due to lack of bookings. Day trips for next year now planned, tickets for the February trip to Bellingen have just on sale, with spare seats. Also, there are some spare seats for the August 8 day tour.

New members over 50’s welcome.

Next meeting: Tuesday December 14 at 10.30am, at the Racecourse. There is no guest speaker, but special announcements will be made.
