Lynne Mowbray |The Grafton RSL Sub-Branch celebrated its 100 year anniversary with a luncheon, at the Grafton District Services Club (GDSC) on Saturday.
The Grafton Sub-Branch, of the then known, Returned Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen’s Imperial League of Australia was granted its initial Charter on 10 September, 1922 – the Sub-Branch however, was actually formed in 1918.
The Sub-Branch (and Club’s) initial home was the Trades Hall in Market Square where meetings were held.
Grafton RSL Sub-Branch president Brian Bultitude said that around 96 people attended Saturday’s commemorative event.
“I’m quite proud to have held the position of president of the Sub-Branch for the last 20 years,” said Mr Bultitude.
“I’m very proud of my partner Margaret who has supported me over that time.
“We’re (the Sub-Branch) hoping to steer some new and younger members to put their hand up,” he said.
