Grafton Rifle Club – Bloomers score a double

This past week Sue and John Bloomer welcomed into their family twin boys Arlow and Archie to Amy and Luke, the proud parents. Proud grandma cannot wipe the smile off her face – congratulations to all from your fellow members.

On Saturday August 8 Grafton Rifle Club fired from the 300-yard mound in very favourable conditions, with a light breeze that would drop off on occasions. Some members were absent on the day due to their need to be in Queensland before lockdown in order to compete in the forthcoming Queens shoot. In the Target Rifle division Peter Brown scored 50.6 and followed up with a 50.7 and 50.6 in the Hunter Class and Dennis Hilton scored a 50.3 in Target Rifle.

Taking out the Target Rifle trophy with a 50.6 and 49.5, giving him a total of 99.11, was Peter Brown whilst David Grundy won the Handicap trophy with a 49.2 and 50.5, giving him a total of 99.7. However, with his handicap of four points added David finished with a total score of 103.

In the ‘F’ Class division our hard-working secretary Allan Johnson won the ‘Off’ Rifle trophy with scores of 56.4 and 53.0, giving him an aggregate of 109.4. New member Andrew Kattenhorn won the Handicap trophy with a pair of 51s/60 and with his newly acquired handicap of 15.5 added, gave him an aggregate of 117.5

Peter Brown also competed in the Hunter Class competition and scored a pair of 50s, giving him an aggregate of 100 with 13 central bullseyes and with his rather small handicap of 0.5, Peter won the day with a total score of 100.5.

After a long absence, it was good to welcome back Colin Wigg competing again.
