Our “P” themed end of year golfing Party Day last Wednesday showcased an amazing display of creative and very talented ladies with their imaginations producing some clever costumes.
The groovy Rock n Roll Pink Ladies team were awarded the secret judges pick as best dressed. It was the second year in a row that the team comprising Glenda Chad, Sonya Baker, Lorraine McLaughlan and newcomer Narelle Butcher have taken out this competition.
The wild Pirates team led by head pirate Sue Petty had many other teams ducking for cover when mates, Sally Beresford, Jen Townsend and Kaye Murdoch created havoc, on and off the golf course, in their award winning best decorated carts, complete with their water bombers.
The Pioneers team of Desiree, June C, Liz F and Marg M must have spent many hours decorating their fabulous carts, aka houses, together with their very creative costumes, and received an honourable mention for their tenacity in playing in such heavy, hot pioneering day costumes. Difficulties however arose during their golf round, when the chimney on “their house” blew its stack.
Noeline, Mary A, Marianne and Monday player, Netty came dressed as gourmet Plum Puddings and even provided slices of delicious puddings for their friends to enjoy.
Many teams chose the theme of the colour pink including the Pretty Pink Petals team of Heather, Mary K, Bev G and Jan H. Other pink ladies included Helen I, Fran, Colleen and Jan B with their display of pink bras in support of a good cause.
The Pink Pregnant ladies had lots in fun whilst also finding it tough going with their enormous bellies, especially Janette and Jean who threatened to go into labour all morning, but the other “pregnant” team members, Heather and Julie, kept a close watch on proceedings.
The team of Painters where led by the experienced champion team player Sharyn O’Grady into first place. Jane Wolfe, Shirley Avery and Trish Clarke made up the drop out Ambrose team and together they put together a fantastic round of just 73 hits for a nett score of 61 7/8.
Thursday night of last week was our Annual Presentation Night where over 50 ladies wined, dined and celebrated the achievements of all our golfers during the year. President Heather thanked her outgoing Committee and formally introduced her new Committee for 2016.
Captain Noeline announced the winners of the 2015 awards and special trophies, including all of our Championship winners who were presented with their badges.
The rescheduled Saturday Party Day was held last Saturday with a good number of 14 players available for the 2-Person Ambrose competition. The combination of the two 2015 in form golfers, Peg James and Elaine Shand blitzed their way around the course to record a fantastic 73 hits for a nett score of 66 to easily come in as the winners.
Janette Blair and Janette Townsend were a match made in heaven, and played flawless golf with some very creative shots to receive the runner up prize with 68 ¼.
The sponsors of the day, Carol and Chrissy, presented all the prize winners with some fantastic prizes and all were appreciative of their lovely rewards including Jean and Ann with their special prizes.
