Grafton ladies prize winners in World Masters golf

Last week Grafton lady golfers were kept busy with regular competitions, championships finals, interclub visits, and celebrating the success of our golfers who have just returned from the World Masters Golf Championship in Thailand!
Monday June 24 – 9-hole Stableford

Sixteen starters enjoyed beautiful golfing conditions in the 9-hole Stableford competition.
The winner of Div 1 was Jane Wear (18), very closely followed by, Denise McCleery (17).
The winner of Div 2 was Helen Irving (14), and r/up was Sandy Donnelly (13c/b).
Wednesday June 26 – Round 4 Division and Club Championships

Over the 4 rounds of the championships, 52 golfers participated, with 9 playing 1 round, 8 played 2 rounds, 2 played 3 rounds, and 33 players completed the 4 rounds of the championships.
Congratulations to the Div 1 winner and 2024 Club Champion, Kaye Murdoch (350); Div 2 winner, Wendy Butcher (407); Div 3 winner, Cheryl Creighton (419).
Div 1 r/up is Elaine Shand (351); and 3rd is Sharyn O’Grady (356). Div 2 r/up is Judy McFarlane (408); 3rd is Jan Patterson (410). Div 3 r/up is Noeline Smith (428); 3rd is Sharyn Rowles (429).
72-hole nett winners – Club is Elaine Shand (289); Div 2 is Sonya Baker (308c/b); and Div 3 is Cheryl Creighton (297).
Putting winners in Div 1 – Elaine Shand (115); Div 2 – Di Chapman (135); Div 3 – Noeline Smith (130).

Wednesday June 26 – Monthly Medals
44 golfers contested the medals which were sponsored by Full Function Remedial Therapies, Grafton.
The Div 1 Medal winner was Julie Bennett (71); Div 2 Medal winner was Jane Wolfe (75); and Div 3 Medal winner was Noeline Smith (78).
Division 1 r/up was Elaine Shand (73c/b); 3rd was Donna Carter (73). Div 2 r/up was Cheryl Creighton (78c/b); and 3rd was Lisa Hunt (78). Div 3 r/up was Sonya Baker (79c/b); 3rd was Sharyn Rowles (79).

In the putting competition Jen Townsend won Div 1; Jan Patterson won Div 2; Sonya Baker won Div 3.
OBE nett winner was Noeline Smith (78), and balls went to 79.
The raffle was donated by Jean Milne and was won by Judy Burt.
Friday June 29 – Stableford

There were 2 Divisions for the 28 golfers who teed off in the 18-hole Stableford on Friday morning.
The winner of Div 1 was Peg James (35); r/up was Millie Harris (34); 3rd was Heather Purtill (33).
The winner of Div 2 was Kerry Harding (39); r/up was Leanne Danvers (34); and 3rd was Judy Page (31).
Balls went down to 28.
NTP on the 6th was Heather Purtill, and NTP 2nd shot on the 17th was Jules Todd.
Saturday June 29 – Weekend Championships final

Four golfers teed off in the final round of the 54-hole Weekend Championships on Saturday 29.
Congratulations to Donna Carter who won with a total of 274 over the 3 rounds; Kate Thomson was r/up with 289. Donna also won the nett competition with 229.
Congratulations to Kate Thomson who won the putting competition with a total of 100 over the 3 rounds.
Visit to Maclean

The Maclean Vets Open 4BBB/Scratch was held on Tuesday June 25 and Grafton ladies attended.
Scores were very close with only 4 points separating the top 5 places. Yamba golfer, Jules Todd who plays a lot of the Grafton competitions, partnered with Helen McFarlane, and they came out winners with 45. Grafton’s Janeen Roberts and Lisa Hunt were 4th r/up with 41c/b.
Balls went to Christine Stephenson and Jan Pilgrim.
Grafton ladies always win raffles when they go away, and this time Leanne Danvers and Janeen Roberts were lucky raffle winners.
June 9-15 – Centara World Masters Golf Championship

A group of Grafton golfers were in Hua Hin in Thailand to participate in the World Masters Golf Championship with 350 other golfers.
Jan Pilgrim, Lisa Hunt, Ann Gibbons, Heather Purtill, Graeme Smith, Peter Summers, Tony Pidcock, Peter Gibbons, and Bob Turns played some great golf and came away with the prizes.
Congratulations to Jan Pilgrim who came 2nd overall in the B Grade 65+ years and to the team who won the Team’s event.
Ann Gibbons won two NTPs as well as 1st place in the 65+ years A Grade on one of the days. Heather Purtill won one day’s gross competition in the 35-65 years A Grade.
