Grafton hill climb attracts a good field

The Grafton Sporting Car Club held round four of the multi club hill climb on Sunday July 25. It was a trying day with strong winds in the morning but turned out to be a great day.

There was a total of 63 cars entered with one pulling out prior to the Sunday. Each driver had four runs and enjoyed the day except for one Nissan wagon who tried to take on the tyre barrier, leaving with front panel damage. The driver was fine.

The results for the day were:

Class 1: 1st Glen McPhillips – Honda Civic (time 56.24); 2nd Tony Goninan – Suzuki GTi (58.49); 3rd Alexander McPhillips – Honda Civic (60.13).

Class 2: 1st Elizabeth Simpson – VW GTi (59.54); 2nd Kaylene Reardon – Celica (60.62); 3rd John Smith – Skyline (65.11).

Class 3: 1st Adam Shalders – Civic (54.14); 2nd Bruce Paul – Mitsubishi (55.10); 3rd Bill Heuchmer – Corolla (53.18).

Class 4: 1st Paul Burridge – Civic (53.18); 2nd Greg Brown – C/dore (53.79); 3rd Mihai Mitrache – RX7 (56.24).

Class 5: 1st Zakary Masters – Civic (51.52); 2nd Stephen Sauer – Escort (52.57); 3rd Craig Klingbiel – Renault (54.32).

Class 6: 1st Dick Hughes – C/dore (52.88); 2nd Peter Everett – Torana (53.91); 3rd Rob Neal – BMW (54.12).

Class 7: 1st Brendan Cole – Peugeot (55.47); 2nd David Cole – Peugeot (55.83); 3rd Dean Bradley – Pulsar (56.54).

Class 8: 1st Nicholas Contojohn – WRX (47.94); 2nd Gerard Boyle – Datsun (54.45).

Class 9: 1st Miles Hoare – OMS CF04 (48.39); 2nd Dave Morrow – Nota MAC (55.21); 3rd Samuel Withers – Westfield (56.46).

Class 10: 1st Reid Hinton – Barracuda (49.41); 2nd Stan Pobjoy – VW Special (51.09).

Class 12: 1st Todd Wedd – Subaru Sti (49.41); 2nd John Kelly – WRX (52.30); 3rd William Contojohn – WRX (52.80).

Outright: 1st Nicholas Contojohn (47.94); 2nd Rick Hinton (49.41);

3rd Miles Hoare (48.39).

Fastest lady: Elizabeth Simpson.

Fastest junior: 1st William Contojohn; 2nd Maxwell Contojohn; 3rd Brianna Stewart.
