After a very active year, members of the Grafton Floral Art Society expressed the opinion of “we were all flowered out”. However once again, with renewed energy and after our Christmas break, enthusiasm will be created under the guidance of president Lyn and assisted by vice president Doreen and Beth.
During Jacaranda week members worked tirelessly at the ‘Festival of Flowers’ at Christ Church Cathedral, and proved to be more popular than previous years, although there were a few problems with the delivery of flowers.
The most successful function for the past year was the Cancer Council morning tea, once again held at Joan Muir Community Centre during May, just prior to Mother’s Day. Once again thank you to the volunteers who were of great assistance.
The Grafton Agriculture Show floral art section exhibited many artistic arrangements and created a colourful display.
The floral display held at Shoppingworld during July Race Week proved to be artistically and financially successful. Thank you to the staff at Shoppingworld and volunteers at the venue.
The Society is proud to be supportive of the Westpac Helicopter and NSW Cancer Council.
The Society will reconvene on February 13 at 9.30am, at Whitehouse Tea Rooms. The theme will be Valentine Day, so please bring a pre-arranged design or alternatively foliage or flowers to create an arrangement on the day. Should you be interested in the art of arranging flowers, come along and enjoy the morning, even if only as an observer.
