Grafton District Services Club Women’s Bowls

Last Thursday was the first night of our 6 week Twilight Triples competition. It was great to see both greens full with some newer bowlers trying our friendly game of bowls. Winners of the night were the Grapefruit [M. Elliott and B. Williams]  runner up went to the Blueberries [S. Taylor, A. Perkins and J. Weatherstone]. Lucky losers was won by the Quinces [A. Pearce, D. Pearce and J. O’Brien], The only resting toucher of the night was won by R. Woodward.

The 3 lucky ends drawn were 3, 11 and 15, so the leaders after week 1 on 8 points are the Plums [K. Morrissey, J. Morrissey and R. Want] in second place are the Apricots [S. Hillier, S. Woodward and R. Woodward], on 7 points.

On February 16, President Dawn welcomed Shirley Hillier to bowls this morning, hope you enjoy your game Shirley. We had very warm weather for play so by playing 2 bowl triples and 3 bowl pairs we were able to come off the green before it became too hot. Resting Toucher was won by V. Hall and the condition of play was lucky rink. Winners were J. McPhee, M. McClaer and J. Solomon defeated R. Macdonald, J. Morrissey and B. Murray. Runner/up was won by V. Hall and A. Williams defeating L. Robertson and A. Bowling, lucky losers went to R. Foley and D. Lawson defeated by A. Perkins and D. Rapley. M. Firth, M. Toovey and N. Mawhirt defeated S. Hillier, J. Cooper and J. Weatherstone.

Competition was won by J. Morrissey, L. Robertson, B. Murray and D. Mason.

The draw has been done for the Club Championship Fours and is set down to be played Thursday February 25 at 9am: M. Toovey, J. Morrissey, D. Rapley, L Robertson v J. McPhee, B. Donohoe, V. Hall, N. Mawhirt; M. Elliott, M. McClaer, D. Lawson, J. Weatherstone v J. McWaters, M. Buckley, A. Bowling, A. Williams; D. Mason, M. Firth J. Pugh, B. Murray v J. McDonald, A. James, A. Perkins H. Barnier. Just a reminder ladies our new uniform must be worn for Championship play.
