Grafton CWA Branch

Our meeting held May 20 in the CWA rooms, including acknowledgement to the country, singing of the National Anthem, and the CWA Motto recited and a moments silence.

Welcome to new member Grafton CWA branch, Anne Hindley.

11 members were present, and six apologies were received.

Business arising, report on the 100th State AGM, which was held at the Randwick Racecourse.

The official welcome to the Country by Aunty Lola Coyle, was followed by the welcome from President Stephanie Stanhope and Mayor of Randwick councillor Dylan Parker.

The Honourable Margaret Beasley A.O. Q.C. Governor of NSW gave the official opening.

Guest speakers Hon Bonnie Taylor MLC Minister Women’s regional Health and Mental Health. Keynote speaker was Ms Layne Beachley, former professional surfer.

President Stephanie Stanhope officially opened the Conference.

Twenty-eight policies were on the agenda and at times there were lively discussion held, however 13 policies were passed, and five motions were lost.

Gala dinner was held on Thursday night at the racecourse, a beautiful dinner was served. We were entertained by the Army Band which kept us entertained for the night.

Next State Conference will be held Sunday May 3 to Thursday May 11, 2023, at Bathurst.

Medical research for 2023 is Ovarian Cancer.

Reports from the treasurer, ag and environment officer, cookery officer, handicraft officer, international officer, and publicity officer were given.

General business: North Coast Group Council meeting will be held on June 15 at Bellingen.

State Handicraft meeting in Grafton May 31, and June 1-2.

Venue for the next North Coast AGM on October 19 at Grafton Golf Club.

Next meeting will be June 10, and handicraft morning is May 23, at 9.30am. All welcome.
