Grafton CWA recently held a successful Land Cookery Day. There were 27 entries and our members and two community members outdid themselves in the competition.
The placegetters were:
Section Three: steamed fruit pudding – Mark Williamson (1st); Carmon McFawn (2nd).
Section Six: coconut loaf – Mark Williamson (1st); Narelle Saunders (2nd).
Section Nine: gluten free magic bean cake – Carmon McFawn (1st); Mark Williamson (2nd).
Section Twelve: microwave strawberry jam – Mark Williamson (1st); Cathryn Wiliamson (2nd); Carmon McFawn & Lyn Harris (3rd).
Section Thirteen: tomato jam – Mark Williamson (1st); Carmon McFawn (2n); Lyn Harris (3rd).
Section Fourteen: pineapple & onion relish – Cathryn Williamson (1st); Narelle Saunders (2nd); Mark Williamson & Carmon McFawn (3rd).
Section 15: apple & cranberry chutney – Cathryn Williamson (1st); Carmon McFawn (2nd); Mark Williamson (3rd).
Placegetters who received first or second in a section will compete at the North Coast Group level in Sawtell on March 5. Winners from Group will compete in the State Competition in Wagga Wagga in May. Congratulations and good luck to all participants.
If anyone is interested in finding out more about Grafton CWA, we will be having a stall at the upcoming “On Record: Celebrating Our Seniors” event on Wednesday March 12 at Grafton Library, 10am. There will be lots of information about CWA available and some of our famous scones!
As our CWA Rooms are out of action at the present, meetings of Grafton CWA are being held on the 2nd Friday of each month at GDSC. We start with morning tea at 9.30am and the meeting at 10am. New members are always welcome; our next meeting is on Friday March 14. Craft mornings are being held at the Salvation Army Hall, Oliver St, on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month, starting at 9.30am.
