Grafton CWA

The meeting held on March 11 at the CWA rooms, began with an acknowledgment of the country and singing of the Australian national anthem; there were 15 members present and four apologies were accepted.

There was a request by a disabled member, that CWA approach the Grafton Council for a disabled toilet and amenities permitted to be installed at the CWA rooms. Council has been successful in obtaining a grant from the Federal Member Mr Kevin Hogan, hopefully installation of a disabled toilet will begin very soon.

Due to the recent inclement weather and flooding, the handicraft and land cookery day was cancelled at Glenreagh on March 2, this event has been rebooked for Wednesday March 16 in the Glenreagh Hall weather permitting.

On Friday March 11, Grafton CWA held an international lunch and the country of study for 2022 is Malaysia. Wendy Proud (international officer), and Lyn Harris, both presented to the ladies a very comprehensive coverage of geographics, cultural and lifestyle and women’s dress from Malaysia. Artifacts were on display and a lovely lunch of Malaysian cuisine cooked and served by CWA members.

Raffles and lucky door prize were won by our guests attending. Coins for friendship were collected on the day for the A.C.W.W organisation.

On Monday March 28, a special morning tea will be held in our rooms at 9.30am for Mrs Val Wood who will be celebrating her 100th year birthday.

Next meeting will be Friday April 8, and morning tea will be served at 9am, with the meeting to commence at 10am.

Handicraft morning will be held in the CWA rooms on March 14 and 28, bring along your handicraft articles, join us for a cuppa and a chat… you will be made welcome.
