Glenn Massey given nod for Yamba Country Music

Darrel Craft at Yamba on May 28 was the first of the quadrella of stars to feature at Yamba Country Music over the coming months, with Glenn Massey on June 23, Kiara Rodriquez in July and Lyn Jerrett for August. What a lineup.

Back to Darrel Craft. Thumbs up to our Yamba audience as the comments passed individually by both Darrel and his partner Heather, were how refreshing it was to appear in front of such a respectful group of people, who actually kept their own conversations quiet and listened to the artists. Reinforcing these comments, you only had to witness Darrel’s final bracket where ‘Danny Boy’ and subsequent numbers were sung, that the old adage of hearing a pin drop was absolutely spot on; just another great day at the Bowlo.

On June 2, 25 Yamba folk attended Ballina’s Birthday Muster. It was a big day, 20 walkups and Tony Wagner as guest. Due to entertaining at a wedding reception early in the day, Glenn Massey, our guest at Yamba this Sunday, arrived late and became walkup no 20. Was he worth the wait? YES.

Glenn, an ex-Ballina resident, has worked the Sydney club circuit for the past 25 years, now back living in Ballina. In Sydney he backed a number of international tour artists, mixed it with all the top groups. Even the unique sounding guitar that he uses, Glenn acquired it from a member of AC/DC.  Covers from Freddie Fender, John Denver, Johnny Cash, you name it Glenn can handle it. I can only describe our guest as an outstanding artist at the very top of his game.
