Get ready Copmanhurst, your new playground is coming

It was close to standing room only when a new playground opened in Yamba towards the end of last year and the new playground in Brooms Head has been busy from the time the last piece of equipment was installed.

And now it’s time for the people of Copmanhurst to get their heads together to help design a new playground for the village.

The Clarence Valley Council has started planning for the new playground and is now calling on the community, particularly its younger members to help decide what play equipment should be installed.

Council’s open spaces supervisor, Andrew Auglys, said council had put together a web page where people could give their ideas about the design for the park and help choose the play equipment.

“We are also planning an open day for Saturday February 16, onsite at the playground from 11am-1pm,” he said.

“There will be plenty of activities for kids and their parents, including placing coloured dots on their favourite play equipment pieces to a design drawing competition among the kids.

“On the web page we’ve got a survey, questionnaire, frequently asked questions and guestbook that people can complete.

“The more input we can get from the community the more likely we are to be able provide something people really want, so we encourage people to come to the open day and to visit the web page and be free with their views.”
