The Maclean Services Club hosted the Zone Junior Showgirl competition, on Saturday February 3.
The seven competitors from Casino, Kyogle, Woodenbong, Alstonville, Mullumbimby, Lismore and Maclean, were judged during an interview process, morning tea and lunch, with the winner being announced at the end of the luncheon.
Judges for this year’s event were Clarence MP Chris Gulaptis, former Royal Easter Showgirl contestant Melinda Farlow from Brisbane, and former Grafton Showgirl Maddie MacDonald.
Maclean’s Junior Showgirl Georgia Everson was announced as this year’s winner of the Zone Junior Showgirl competition.
Georgia said that it was a privilege to take out this year’s regional junior showgirl competition.|
“The agriculture showgirl competition provides a great opportunity to give back to the country show society and gain experiences in public speaking and community involvement,” said Georgia.
“The showgirl competition helps to develop a platform where you can learn about your local show and community and the future of agriculture,” she said.
Vicki Gulaptis was MC for the luncheon which was attended by around 60 people.
Judith Little provided floral decorations for the tables, including one for the stage, which was raffled off at the end of the event.
A raffle was also run throughout the luncheon, which was sponsored by SPAR Maclean.
Several businesses in Maclean donated items for gift bags which were presented to each of the girls.
