Some sad news to start with this week, one of our Wooli Boys, Garry Bush, passed away on Monday, May 16. Garry was a bit of a character on the golf course and he was always ready for a story or two as he loped around the course and he will be sadly missed by everyone at Westlawn. There is a memorial service for Garry at the Deck Bar at the Solitary Island Caravan Park at Wooli this Saturday (May 28) starting at 2pm and to honour Garry it is requested that anyone who attends to please wear your Westlawn Golf Club shirt. A good field of 50 plus took to the fairways on Sunday for the 2nd Round of the Grafton Chiropractic Centre Club Championships and the scores were pretty hot. The best round of the day was a fine 32 nett from A Grade winner Terry Ord, closely followed by Paul Sutton and Pat Hagan with 32 ½ and Nev Winters, Keith Ellem, Steve Carnley and Charles Doggett all on 33 ½. These scores should make for an interesting 3rd and final round next Sunday when the top four players in each grade will play the round together. The top four in each grade and time slots are: 7.47am – A Grade: D Morgan, J Casserley, T Ord and D Roberts. 8.01am – B Grade: K Ellem, S Carnley, P Curd and C Doggett?? 7.19am – C Grade: J Armstrong, C Husking, J Corrigan and G Mallison Good luck to all players and you never know, someone might come out of the pack to claim any of the Grades. There were five more Waterboys memberships taken out on Sunday, Geoff McInerney and myself on the 1st and Gary Reynolds, John Dick and George Mallison all on the 7th. Next Sunday will be a Stroke event for the last round of the Championships. Starters will be B McFarlane and P McFarlane with R Wykes and E Corkett to handle the results. Sunday June 5 will be a Single Stableford event in conjunction with the 1st Round of the Jacaranda City Coaches Match play Championships. Starters will be R Tangye and G Jackson with G Mallison and G Smith handling the results. Dave Lynch
