The Historic Barn – Grafton, by Katrina McAndrew

‘Gate to Plate’ returns in 2019

‘Gate to Plate’ returns in 2019 with a Long Lunch and Fresh Food, Farmers and Growers Market, both on Sunday September 29.

Presented by The Gallery Foundation, this year’s event has also acquired a naming rights sponsor and will be known as the ‘Bendigo Bank Gate to Plate’.

The renowned foodie event is a highlight of the Clarence Valley’s social calendar and will once again take place at Grafton Showground, with the lunch held in the historic Barn.

The Gallery Foundation chair, Rod Watters said, “This one meal reflects everything that is distinctive about the Clarence Valley food industry. It showcases the innovation and growth in fine dining and in food retail that we’re experiencing across the Clarence.”

“And that’s why we’re particularly proud to announce this year’s menu has been designed by Zac Roberts and Charly Prétet, two of the most inspiring chefs in the Clarence Valley,” said Mr Watters.

Phil Nicholas, who is coordinating the event, said, “An authentic Australian cuisine has emerged from the Clarence Valley. This is driven by the quality and nature of the entire supply chain, from growers and producers to retailers and packagers, to next generation chefs like Zac and Charly.”

Tickets to the Long Lunch are limited to 200, in tables of eight and go on sale this week.

The Long Lunch is preceded by a food market featuring live music and children’s activities in a mini-festival atmosphere. Everyone is invited to this family friendly market.

Expect freshly cooked breakfast and brunch alongside local and organic produce stalls. Tasting samples will be on offer from many of the Clarence Valley’s established and up-and-coming food growers and producers.
